Solar panels going up

Solar panels going up

Postby Glyn » Thu Dec 09, 2010 5:40 am

Well the solar panels are going in today or tomorrow- depending on rain ( Of course!). That's the good news .
But the bad news is the RECs have dropped from $34 per unit to $28 - probably as a result of the dropping of the feed in tariff scheme. For us it means about $1000 extra- ouch!
How does this affect the rest of you waiting in line?

Hi Glyn,

We had a confirmation from the solar fellow and what the total was we'd have to pay so I'm assuming no change, I hope not. With a 10kw system that could work out quite costly.

Exciting to have the solar panels up Glyn!

Bummer about the added cost - sure it will pay for itself in no time at all though.

Glad you are getting them though. I have only six. Am wanting another two on the current system and then get another whole new one. We were fortunate enough to get ours for free as the $8000 paid for it... :) At the moment we are saving all our spare grocery money and putting that towards the panels. $680 saved towards the two panels so far... We just had our meter read about 1/2hr ago and this quarter our bill for two adults and two kids will be under $100. Loving my solar. :) You will too :) :) :)
Cheers

Check what exactly is in your contract it just may be worth your while waiting to install after 1 jan 2011 to get the $40 per RECs / STCs .
We seem to have lost the opportunity - for the sake of a few weeks - damn - and we probably won't even be switched on by then.
